Jessi continued to attend SHS as well as study dance with Madame Noelle throughout high school. The summer before senior year, Jessi decided to apply to several performing arts schools, including Julliard, while also auditioning with several major ballet companies. Although she was accepted into almost all of the dance programs she applied to, Jessi was offered an apprenticeship with the New York City Ballet, which she chose to take instead. Studying at the School of American Ballet as well as dancing with the NYCB, Jessi furthered her amazing technique and strength, and after a year was offered a full time job as a member of the Corps de Ballet. Although she was away in NYC, Jessi remained close to her parents, her sister Becca and her brother John Phillip jr. (Squirt), Jessi danced with the corps for three years and was then promoted to the rank of soloist. Two years later, she was made a principal in the New York City Ballet. While dancing with the NYCB, Jessi was reunited with a childhood friend of hers- Quint Walter, who also had landed a job with the ballet. Jessi and Quint dated for a bit, but decided to remain friends rather than have a relationship. Instead, Quint introduced Jessi to a friend of his, a dancer with Alvin Ailey, named Chris Stuart. Jessi and Chris dated for a few years and when she was 23 and he was 24, they got married (Quint was the best man). Both continued their dancing careers while being married until a knee injury caused Jessi to retire from professional ballet.
After leaving the NYCB, Chris and Jessi decided to leave the city and get a home in the suburbs. They searched around and found the perfect home- in, where else, Stoneybrook. Jessi and Chris moved to Stoneybrook, where Jessi was now near her family- something that came in handy six months later when Jessi became pregnant with her first child. At the age of 27 Jessi gave birth to a girl, Mary Rose Stuart. Two years later, Jessi and Chris had a second daughter, Emily Stuart. At this time Chris decided that he would leave the Ailey Company and search for a job that allowed him to devote more time to his family. Jessi began taking courses at Stoneybrook University and completed her degree in Elementary Education. Jessi got a job teaching third grade at SES, leaving the girls with her mother until they were old enough to start school. Although she was no longer dancing professional, Jessi was happy to be able to continue to enjoy dance through her watching her daughters' dance classes.
